2023 Is The Year Of Leading Differently.
It’s time to consider a new leadership approach that serves today’s world.
The world has been preparing us for this moment, and the solution lies within us; we just need to walk through that portal together.
And lead differently.
What does this mean? It means that the world is calling us to think bigger about how we lead and how we show up each day in service of the greater good. Whether we are leading ourselves, a project, a team, an organization, or a family, we can’t rely on only our past leadership thinking anymore. We must embrace the lessons we have learned from the pandemic, social injustices, and other global tragedies and take action accordingly. The world calls for us to ask the right questions and solve the most difficult puzzles, like how we show up for each other, our EQ, how we advocate for one another, etc. The only way to do that is to join forces and embrace a different type of leadership. Human-Centered Leadership.
What is Human-Centered Leadership?
At a high level, a human-centered leadership approach recognizes that people are valuable beyond measure and that investing in their connection, well-being, and development is crucial for long-term success.
For organizations or any team, key challenges that leaders will face in the new year include navigating the ever-changing work landscape while innovating for the future. This sounds overwhelming, but we don’t have to do it alone. In fact, we were never meant to do it alone. By practicing human-centered leadership, we will be guided to a space where we can thrive, individually and collectively, because human-centered leaders look out for and drive change for the sustainable, greater good.
We are on a journey to explore what human-centered leadership is all about and we invite you to join us. As a start, how will you set your team up for success this year? What mindset will guide you? Can it be a human centered one? Can it include elements of authenticity, empathy and adaptability? How will you take care of your team, and set them up for success, whatever team that may be?
Choose Love. Be Love.
After a tragic Monday Night Football game on January 2, 2023, those phrases are being displayed on the back of many NFL football helmets. At first glance, this appears out of the ordinary, maybe not something we thought we would ever see. But it may not be as surprising as it seems because “it’s time” we are ready for a more human-centered approach to leadership. After Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field and the league did not cancel the game, both teams stepped in to cancel the game to put Damar and his family first. The best of our humanity prevailed. Leaders in varying positions for both teams, who are so different from one another and have been trained to fight against each other, rallied together for the greater good. The ripple effect of this human-centered, collective leadership will change not only the NFL but will ignite change across so many organizations and beyond.
To take the first leap toward human-centered leadership for yourself and your teams, we invite you to set a ‘leader intention’ or purpose for 2023. What will guide your days, decisions, and actions, especially when times are tough?
Leadership can be lonely, but it doesn’t have to be. Let’s rise together. We can think bigger, act bolder and collaborate better for collective success. And what if that’s guided by a human-centered leadership approach? What would that mean for you, for us? Do we have the courage to walk through that portal together? The human-centered leadership approach equips us with the tools and mindsets to walk through that portal together.
Let's make 2023 the year of leading for each other.
